A Prayer for the Nations
Have you ever felt like your prayer life was just all over the place? Was unfocused, was just bouncing around and you were really praying with no purpose? I have felt that way many times so I decided to try to organize some of my days of prayer. For instance on Monday I prayed for all of those who made decisions at our services on Sunday. I prayed for those who I knew who were struggling with physical issues and spiritual issues. Today I prayed for missions. I focus Tuesdays always on mission work our church is doing, mission trips we are taking in the future and missionaries around the world.
What a Decade!
Well, today marks the end of another year and a decade. I thought I would join all the other count downs, reflection blogs, and lists that comes with the passing of another year and offer some reflections on this past decade.
Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays
The other day something shocking happened in my life, in which I walked away from the incident and felt like the worst Christ follower in the world. The event took place at the grocery store in which when I was walking away the cashier said, “Happy Holidays” to which I responded, “Happy Holidays to you as well.” It did not hit me until I got to my car that I forgot to say Merry Christmas.
What a Difference a Week Makes
I don’t want to go completely over the Tiger Woods drama, because I doubt there’s anything I could say that would be new. I remember at my Mom’s on Thanksgiving Day thinking that it was odd how much attention his fender bender was receiving. As more and more details leak out, it just gets worse and worse. But while I was listening to the radio recently, I heard the radio host talk about how shocking this is because Tiger always came off as a likeable, even-tempered, and smart guy. I don’t know what Tiger they’re talking about, because I watched him play golf. It doesn’t take a professional lip reader to see what he says on a bad shot. Or to see his glares at photographers. My first pastor saw him at the Master’s in 2002 and came away so concerned about Tiger that since he couldn’t get close to him, Bro. Ralph sent him a personal letter and a Bible to tell him about the change Jesus could make in his life.
