Why Should You Join a Church?

1. Joining a Church identifies you as a follower of Christ:
Joining a church does not save you, anymore than baptism or your good works.  When you join a church you are declaring to others that you have been saved by Christ and are willing to publicly let everyone know. When you join a church as a follower of Christ you are committed to showing everyone in the church the same love that Christ has shown you (John 13:34-35).

2. Joining a Church provides you with a spiritual family:
Someone once said that a “lone ranger is a dead ranger.” After all remember even the Lone Ranger had his horse Silver and a friend by the name of Tonto. When you join a church you are becoming a member of a family. As part of a church family you are provided with an opportunity to be held accountable and encouraged in your Christian life (Galatians 6:1-2, Ephesians 5:21).

3. Joining a Church provides you with a way to be a witness to the world:
Jesus commands His followers to go out into the world and make disciples.  That is the mission of the church.  When you join a church you are partnering with that church in that mission.  The church is a place where you can come to be encouraged and loved.   It is also a place where you can be equipped to go out into the world and show the same encouragement and love to others. (Matthew 28:18-20, Romans 10:15)

4. Joining a Church provides you a way to use your God given talents and abilities:
As a believer in Christ the Holy Spirit equips you with at least one spiritual gift that is to be used to build up the body of Christ. Each one of us is gifted by God in many different areas. When you join a church you are given an opportunity to serve God with these gifts. By using these gifts you can help yourself and others grow and mature in the faith (1 Corinthians 12:4-27).

5. Joining a Church provides you a way to glorify God:
When you join a church and serve alongside of other believers, it is God that gets the praise!  Neither the church nor its members should be about receiving praise but should always be directing their praise to God.  Jesus says in Matthew 5:16 “Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven.”

Here at Stewartstown Baptist Church we desire to see Christians come and be apart growing the kingdom of God.  This is a loving church, a growing church and a place where you can come and be part of something special.
