AWANA Kids

AWANA is an exciting weekly club for children from preschoolers through the sixth grade.  The name AWANA stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed.  It is taken from 2 Timothy 2:15: “Work hard so God can approve you.  Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.”

Our goal is to give boys and girls the chance to know, love and serve God.  It’s a serious goal, but the journey is exciting!  Each club meeting involves three segments:

  1. Game Time – Games are played on a huge game circle with a 4-team design in order that all children may have a chance to participate and be a part of a team, encouraging good sportsmanship and teamwork.
  2. Handbook Time – Leaders help children work through their handbooks, learn Bible verses, and earn awards.
  3. Council Time – Kids and leaders gather together for singing, announcements, award presentations, and most importantly, a practical Bible message.

We often have special themes for club meetings, such as contests (talent night, poster contests, grand prix races), silly spirit nights (funny hats, crazy hair, pajamas), girls versus boys competitions and holiday parties.

AWANA store gives children the opportunity to spend the “money” they have earned on cool prizes of their choice.

The AWANA club meets every Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church except during the summer.  Once they’ve experienced it, your kids will beg to come back!

Ministry Opportunities

Do you want to make a difference in a child’s life?  We have many opportunities for ministry in AWANA!  There is helping plan and coordinate recreation time, helping children learn verses and encouraging them to find answers to Bible questions.  During council time volunteers are needed to teach a short Bible lesson or use tools (singing, interactive lessons, games) to convey Bible messages.  We also need help with record keeping to ensure children get recognition for attendance and awards earned.

We train our leaders!  Leadership training and conferences are held throughout the year to help train new leaders and get new ideas and techniques for making our AWANA program the best.
