Supporting Missions

One way that we commit to serve the world for Christ is through support for the missions initiatives of the Southern Baptist Convention. Stewartstown Baptist Church currently sends 10 percent of general offerings to support missions at home and around the world through the Cooperative Program, and Keystone Baptist Association.

You have the opportunity to directly support missions through the following special seasonal offerings collected each year:

Lottie Moon Christmas Offering

Lottie Moon was a missionary to China who along with her missionary work also wrote many letters home urging Southern Baptists to greater missions involvement and support. One of those letters triggered Southern Baptists’ first Christmas offering for international missions — enough to send three new missionaries to China. Lottie died of starvation, knowing that her beloved Chinese didn’t have enough food. Her legacy lives on in the offering that bears her name, every penny of which goes to support missionaries sharing the gospel overseas.

Annie Armstrong Easter Offering

Annie Armstrong was from Baltimore. She worked tirelessly as an advocate of missions and was especially known for writing many letters to support missions—over 18,000 in 1893 alone! Originating as a Woman’s Missionary Union offering in 1888 and named after Annie since 1934, 100% of this offering is transformed into missionary salaries and their ministry supplies.
