Complaining Vs. Contentment

I came across a resolution being offered by Congressman Emanuel Cleaver from the great state of Missouri. The resolution is that the Wednesday before Thanksgiving be declared “Complaint Free Wednesday.” One of the lines in the proposed resolution reads, “From time to time, we all experience anxiety, frustration, stress, and regret. And often, we respond to these feelings with a criticism or a complaint. Regrettably, complaining keeps people stuck on current problems, inhibiting them from thinking constructively to find solutions.”

Where Your Pet be After the Rapture Happens?

I apologize up front to any readers that do not find this funny, maybe it is the mood I am in today, but I cannot stop laughing about this article. A group of dedicated animal lovers and atheists who call themselves “Eternal Earth-Bound Pets, USA” are up for hire to care of your pet after the rapture happens. This group charges a one time fee of $110.00 to take care of your pet or find a loving home, if your pet is still alive after the rapture.

A Kick or a Hand?

car in sinkholeIra Young was leaving his home in suburban Atlanta on his way to work. Now, I’m not sure what he was doing that caused him to miss the upcoming hazard, but he drove his car into a large sinkhole that formed in one of the residential roads. Emergency workers roped off the area and had to leave the car overnight because they were unsure if the ground around the hole would support a crane to lift the car out. The next morning, Ira came back to meet the emergency workers and found his car had been badly vandalized. Much of the remaining glass in the car had been shattered out, the car seats were ripped up, and his stereo was stolen.

Jesus and Tim Tebow’s Narrow Religion

As a sports fan I love football season. I enjoy watching good games with my wife who sometimes will even watch more than I do. It is a great time of year! Even if you do not watch much football you may of hear of the name Tim Tebow. Tebow is the quarterback for the Florida Gators football team. His team has won the national championship twice and Tebow has also won the Heisman trophy for his performance at quarterback. Tebow is a fiery competitor and a natural born leader. What troubles some is that Tebow is an outspoken professing born again believer in Jesus Christ. He takes mission trips in the summer with his father Bob Tebow to the Philippines. The problem many see with Tebow is that he brings his faith onto the football field, often painting a scripture reference under his eyes in eye paint.

America: One Nation Under Whatever

I was reading a recent issue of Newsweek at the dentist’s office (mainly because I ain’t gonna pay for it). One of the articles said that America is a Hindu nation. The author’s argument wasn’t that we worship Hindu gods, but that as a nation we follow the Hindu code that there are many ways to god (God?) and all ways are equal. The writer says that Christians learn in Sunday School that their religion is true and others are false because Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” American’s don’t seem to be buying it anymore. 65% of Americans in 2008 said that many religions can lead to eternal life. 37% of that number claimed to be born again Christians.
