Christmas in August

Why are we celebrating Christmas in August? It is not because we have the months mixed up but it is because there is still a great need for the gospel of Jesus Christ to reach the nations. As a Southern Baptist Church we support the International Mission Board, which does a fantastic job sending out missionaries.

This year the annual Lottie Moon Christmas Offering fell $30 million dollars short of their needed funds. This translates to many new missionaries not being able to be sent to the field. Also funds for current missionaries have been cut in some areas. Therefore at SBC we are going to collect through the month of August money for the Lottie Moon Christmas offering. 100% of the money given will go directly to those missionaries on the field. We are partaking in this mission because time is to short and eternity is long. We are doing this because our gospel is not good news if never arrives to the ears of those who need to hear. Pray about what you can give this month to our Christmas in August. Pray for those who today are hearing the gospel, pray that they repent and believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
