Heart to Heart Women’s Mentoring

Ladies would you like to be paired with another lady in our church that you can share your life with? Heart to Heart is a W omen’s Mentoring program that is seeking to help ladies build relationships with one another. This is a great way if you attend SBC to get to know other ladies and to deepen your walk with Christ. This post provides you with some of the most FAQ and the answers to help you get to know the ministry better.

Our women’s mentoring ministry is kicking-off in September. This week we are running this Q & A sheet in the bulletin to answer the most common questions we are getting! Feel free to adapt these questions if they would be helpful for you and your women’s ministry.

Heart to Heart
Women’s Mentoring Ministry

Stewartstown Baptist Church is taking seriously the command in Titus 2:3-5 for older women to teach and train younger women. In order to encourage and support these relationships, we are beginning a mentoring program called Heart to Heart! We wanted to take time to answer some of the questions we have gotten from those interested.

Q. Who should be involved?
A. All the women in the church. From high school age on up!

Q. Am I an “older woman” or “younger woman”?
A. If you are over 55, you are an older woman. If you are under 21, you are a younger woman. If you are between 21 and 55, you are an older and a younger woman!

Q. How we will be matched with our partners?
A. Those who are interested will fill out a questionnaire that is available on the Ministry Information Center (MIC). The Heart to Heart Steering Team will form partnerships by looking at these questionnaires and by seeking God’s guidance in prayer.

Q. What if I already have a mentoring relationship?
A. If you feel you are already instilling the Titus 2 principles in a specific younger woman, please let us know! We will add you to the ministry. We can then help you with resources and support as you invest in the next generation.

Q. I would be considered an older woman, but I don’t feel qualified to be a mentor.
A. In Spiritual Mothering, Susan Hunt writes, “If you are a Christian woman who is seeking to grow in the faith and to live obediently, then you are qualified for spiritual motherhood.”

Q. How much time will this take?
A. We hope you and your partner will get together face-to-face at least once a month. We hope you communicate by phone or email about once a week. How much time you spend together depends on the partnership.

Q. What do we do when we’re together?
A. Again, this depends on the partnership. Some may want to do a Bible study together. Some may want to go out for coffee. You may spend time learning how to quilt or volunteer to help in the same Sunday School class once a month. The leadership team will provide ideas and resources to help.

Q. How long am I matched with my partner?
A. We will have a kick-off banquet in September. You and your partner will be together through May.

Q. What if we just don’t click?
A. Any issues can be brought to the attention of the steering team. We can help you work things out, or help you find someone else who will be a better match.

Q. What if I still have questions?
A. Let Sandra Peoples know! Or fill out the application and write your questions there. We want to help!

Hi, I was curious if it was possible to get an email copy of the questionnaire you use to match mentors with younger women.  My church is starting up a ladies ministry and we would love to see a copy of this.  THanks so much.  STacey
