The link between America and Israel: Why you should care

America is a friend to Israel. It seems only fitting that two nations that have such strong ties to the God of the Bible would have strong ties to one another. But America has done Israel few favors over the years under our Middle East Peace Plans. From Carter to Clinton the plan has been, “Hey Israel, why don’t you give these Palestinians a little more of your land? That will make them happy.” But it never did. And when the fighting would start again, it was always Israel called on to make concessions.

Now Israel has taken decisive and devastating actions against the terrorist led Palestinian state, and as usual, Israel is being called on to cease hostilities. Never mind that Hamas launched the first rockets, or that they’re supported by Iran who has made their intentions of destroying Israel very clear. I give President Bush credit that he has supported Israel’s right to defend themselves in what is truly a war on terror in Israel’s back yard.

What is the prospect of peace in the Middle East? Slim to none. Every time a U.S. President or other world leader goes to try to create peace between Israel and Palestine, they are ignoring history. These groups have been at war since Genesis 16 when Abraham slept with his wife’s maid, outside of the will of God for his life. The son of that union, Ishmael is the father of the Palestinian people. And the same animosity that existed then between Ishmael and Abraham’s rightful heir, Isaac, still exists today. The day peace comes is the day the Antichrist has come and established the temporary peace that will lead to the Great Tribulation. Pray for Israel. Pray for America. Pray the prayer of Revelation 22:20, “He who testifies to these things says, ‘Yes, I am coming quickly.’ Amen. Come Lord Jesus.”
