What to Expect

What to Expect

Wherever you are in life, you are welcome at SBC! We want to help you become who God created you to be. Come and join us this Sunday for our 10:15 am worship service.

Okay, I’m here…where do I go?

Glad you made it! As you pull into the parking lot, take advantage of the available guest parking. Enter the church at the doors right under the church steeple. As you enter on Sunday morning you will be greeted by one of our friendly volunteers who can answer any questions you may have. To your right is a coat rack and directly ahead is our Connect Center, where you can learn more about our church and current activities.

When you’re ready, enter the worship center to your left through the double doors and sit wherever you want. There are even clearly marked chairs with arms available for anyone who needs a little extra help.

What is the service like?

Our morning worship features singing, prayer, and a Bible-centered, relevant message. We sing a blend of traditional and contemporary hymns and worship songs accompanied and led by our praise team. The service includes a time for us to give financially, but we don’t expect our guests to contribute. The typical service lasts about 75 minutes. After the service we invite you to join us in the fellowship hall for a snack and conversation.

What should I wear?

Good question! The dress at SBC is as varied as the people. You’ll see jeans, t-shirts, sweatshirts, business casual, dresses, and even a few suits and ties. We only ask that you dress modestly and respectfully so that all members and guests feel welcome.

What about my kids? Is there anything for them?

We have a wonderful Kingdom Kids ministry for children from birth to age 5 that meets during our morning worship service, staffed by qualified volunteers who have completed all required background checks. There is a check-in/check-out process to ensure the safety of your children. We would love to give you a tour of our children’s ministry area and process. If you prefer, your children can stay with you in the service, or stay with you until time for the sermon before heading to Kingdom Kids. It’s up to you!

I see Sunday School is at 9:00 am. What’s that like?

Glad you asked! Sunday School is a time when we study the Bible in smaller groups. There are age-specific classes for children from birth through High School, and also several adult groups that are not age segregated, some for only women or only men, and some that are mixed. A greeter at the door can help you and your children get situated in an appropriate group.

What about my special needs child?

Special needs children are just as important to us as any other child. We have trained special needs buddies who can be paired with your special needs child so he or she can participate in any of our children ministries. Just let us know what the needs are so that we can work appropriately with your child.

Tell me about your Wednesday discipleship activities

Our Wednesday discipleship is designed to help you and your family grow as followers of Jesus Christ. There are three programs that run from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm each Wednesday:

  • TeamKID (Kids In Discipleship) is an exciting weekly club for children age 3 through 6th grade. Our goal is to create an environment where boys and girls come to know, love, and serve God. It’s a serious goal, but the journey is exciting! Learn more here.
  • Rock Solid Youth is a time of games and snacks combined with serious Bible study for students in 7th through 12th grade. Learn more here.
  • Prayer & Bible Study is for adults. We usually begin by sharing prayer requests followed by a time of voluntary prayer. Then we study a Bible passage or topic that varies from time to time.
